Our Community

Your Neighborhood School

Frederick Elementary School #260 has served the West Baltimore community since 1983, when the school first opened as a traditional public school.

In 2016, Frederick Elementary and Samuel F.B. Morse Elementary School merged as part of Baltimore City Public Schools’ 21st Century School Building Plan. At the same time, Frederick Elementary converted to a charter school operated by the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP), marking the beginning of a new chapter in our school’s history.

In fall 2017, we moved into a newly renovated school building with modern classrooms and facilities, giving our students access to a high-quality learning environment. Since becoming a charter school, Frederick Elementary (FES) has continued to grow and improve, providing a safe, supportive place for students to learn and succeed.

As the African proverb says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Similarly, it take a community to nurture a school. FES and our community partners work together to uphold our mission by offering meaningful, relevant, and engaging resources to our students, families, and staff.

Our Community Partners are:

  • Bon Secours Community Works
  • Associated Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Villa Maria Behavioral Health
  • Kaiser Permanente Mid-Atlantic
  • Family League of Baltimore

At FES, our community plays a big role in our success. Students, families, teachers, and staff work together to create a positive, welcoming school.

Parent Leadership Group (PLG)

The PLG at Frederick Elementary School is a way for families to provide input on school decisions and plan activities for parents. Parent activities have included hosting a Parent cafe, where parents discussed parenting strategies and solutions to common issues over coffee and hosting a comedy show titled “A House is Not a Home” with a restorative practice approach.

A Few Good Men

Supporting Our Students’ Journey Beyond Frederick Elementary

After leaving FES, our 5th-grade students embark on an exciting journey as they transition to middle school. This is just the beginning of their educational and professional paths, leading them to graduate from high school and pursue various opportunities in the workforce or continue their education in college. We are proud of each step our alumni take on their journey. Their accomplishments reflect the strong foundation laid at FES and inspire current students to dream big and aim high.

Stay Connected
